Neonatal Air Ambulance
Horizon Air Ambulance is proud of the work we do in providing neonate transport to premature or critically ill infants. We have safely transported hundreds of infants, babies and children to and form both international and domestic locations so they can get the specialized care they need. Our specially trained flight crews and medical teams are experts in providing specialized care from the moment they pick up their precious cargo, until they make safe delivery at the receiving facility.
For those babies and children who are critically ill or who have been in a serious accident, we provide specialized, quality care with that extra measure of caring and compassion.
Knowing the Transport Difference
It is important to keep in mind that a neonatal transport is completely different then the normal air ambulance mission. The reason for this is more than just one thing. The aircraft needs to be equipped with specialized equipment and a special medical crew. Maybe 20% of air ambulance aircraft have this on an everyday basis available to the clients. An air ambulance travels on a daily basis from point "A" to point "B". Once a mission is completed the aircraft is then repositioning to the next mission. This is a revolving circle that only stops for down aircraft time.
When neonatal transport is needed it stops the circle process of the aircraft. Companies may not tell you this but that is exactly what it does. The aircraft now needs to leave from its home base not from its last position. It needs to be fitted with the proper equipment since that equipment takes up to much space during normal transports. It needs to have a special medical team which includes a neonatal nurse and a respiratory therapist which is not the normal team aboard.
Our Commitment to Life
Since Horizon Air Ambulance knows the difference in transporting neonatal and also knows that quite often time is of the essence we are commited to helping our clients regardless if we end up being the transporting company. Lets face it, the air ambulance community worldwide is not large. We all know each other and we have a good idea of where the other companies aircraft may be at any given time. We will get on the line with other competitors to help assist the patient and their families. This is done everyday when availability is just not there in the time frame necessary.
